Homo habilis, Richard Erskine Leakey, was born 12 , 19, 1944 in Nairobi, Kenya. His parents were the esteemed anthropologists Louis and Mary Leakey. Leakey decided while very young that this individual wanted nothing to do with paleoanthropology and dropped out of high school. Over the years to come Leakey trapped wild animals, provided skeletons to institutions, started out a firefox business and taught him self to take flight. In 1964, he led an expedition to a precious site he previously seen through the air and discovered that he enjoyed looking for fossils. He also discovered that although he technically led the journey all the fame went to the scientists who also studied the specimens. More than 40 years ago Leakey traveled to England to analyze for a level. Richard efficiently schooled him self by completing a two-year second education program in six months. In 1966, Leakey married Maggie Cropper an archeologist who worked with the Leakey family members (World Book). After working away at a French/ Kenyan/ American joint journey in Ethiopia, Leakey noticed that his lack of scientific certification hindered his progress. Leakey asked the National Geographic Society intended for funds to run his personal excavation for Lake Turkana in Kenya. From 1967-1977, Leakey wonderful co-workers dug up roughly 400 fossils that accounted for 230 people. Leakey's most critical discovery was an almost full skull found in 1977, which usually Richard believed to be a new types called Homo habilis. Rich Leakey's achievements are discovering the crania of Australopithecus boisei in 1969 with archeologist Glynn Isaac on the East shores of Lake Turkana.
